William (Bill) Lahey - B.A., LL.M. — Chair
William Lahey is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at Dalhousie University. In addition to teaching, Bill's 20-year career includes clerking for the Supreme Court of Canada, working in private practice, and serving as a Deputy Minister of Environment and Labour for Nova Scotia.
Raymond Côté
Raymond Côté is Professor Emeritus in Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University. From 1998 - 2008, he was Director of the award-winning Eco-Efficiency Centre at the University. He has been a columnist on business and environment since 1994. He has served as an advisor to the United Nations Environment Programme and several other local and national organizations. Raymond is a member of the National Advisory Council on Energy Efficiency and serves on the Board of the Resource Recovery Fund in Nova Scotia. In December 2007, Raymond was appointed as Chair of the Nova Scotia Round Table on Environment and Sustainable Prosperity for a three-year term. Raymond has 40 years of experience in the field of environmental management as a regulator, administrator, advisor, researcher, teacher and consultant.
Hector Jacques, OC - M. Eng., P. Eng., D Comm. (Hon.)
Hector Jacques is an accomplished professional in the fields of engineering and business. Hector is the co-founder and former CEO and Chairman of Jacques Whitford, which was one of the largest engineering firms in Canada. Hector has received numerous awards over the past 35 years, including being named an Officer of the Order of Canada, member of the Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame and Atlantic Canada Entrepreneur of the Year. Hector has several honourary doctorates and has served on numerous Boards past and present.
Carol MacCulloch - B. Comm., M.A.
Carol MacCulloch is the former President of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia. Carol also contributes to the Construction Sector Council, and has been a member of the Business Consultative Group on the Better Regulations Initiative. Previously, Carol chaired or served as a director for several organizations, while providing advice into the reform of several key pieces of legislation. In 2009, Carol received an honourary diploma from Nova Scotia Community College.
Sean O’Connor, B.Comm., C.A.
Sean O’Connor is a businessman with interests in several small- and medium-sized businesses in Atlantic Canada. An accountant by training, he has held senior positions in the private sector and public sector. Sean sits on the boards of both private and non-profit organizations. He is chair of the Atlantic Lottery Corporation.
Dan O’Halloran - M.Sc., P.Eng.
Dan O’Halloran has almost 50 years of professional experience in a wide range of projects, particularly in bridge, marine, and heavy civil engineering projects across Atlantic Canada. He is founder and partner of O’Halloran Campbell consultants. Dan is a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Peter Underwood - B.Sc., LL.B., M.Sc.
Peter Underwood has served as Deputy Minister for a wide variety of government departments in Nova Scotia, responsible for thousands of employees and government policy, including Crown lands, resource management, and sustainable development. He is currently with the province’s Executive Council Office, Special Projects. Peter helps to achieve better alignment of departmental structures and mandates with core governmental policy and expenditure management priorities. Peter assists the Department of Energy with the ongoing development of Nova Scotia’s tidal power resource, while coordinating government’s transition of responsibilities from Conserve Nova Scotia to Efficiency Nova Scotia.
Michele Wood-Tweel - FCA, CFP, TEP
Michele Wood-Tweel is the CEO and Executive Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia (ICANS). Before taking the helm at ICANS, Michele spent more than 20 years in private practice with KPMG LLP. Within the community, Michele serves on the boards of Saint Mary's University and the Halifax International Airport Authority. Previously she has served on the boards of the Halifax - Dartmouth Bridge Commission, the Nova Scotia International Tattoo Society, and the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
