For Community
At Efficiency Nova Scotia we aim to help people use their energy more wisely. We are committed to helping communities reduce their energy use to help create a more vibrant, sustainable Nova Scotia. Here are a few projects that we’ve partnered with to help us on our journey.
Cool Truro – Over the past three years, hundreds of Truro residents have taken part in this energy reduction contest and now they've asking neighbors to follow the lead and cut power use by 10% or more. Some folks have already made big strides in cutting back on power use...bulbs have been changed, electronic gadgets have been turned off. The Big Cool Saturday kicked-off the contest with a Green Living Fair (including Efficiency Nova Scotia's display booth), an Efficiency Nova Scotia Demonstration Homes bus tour, and a free talk and concert with Silver Donald Cameron and Charlie A’Court.
The contest ran from December 2011 to February 2012. To participate, click here. Households and businesses can get started saving energy today! Efficency Nova Scotia is a proud sponsor of Cool Truro.
LED Holiday Light Exchange – Now into its seventh year, the LED Holiday Light Exchange aims to encourage energy savings by using efficient holiday lights. Taking place at most tree lighting ceremonies across the province, you can bring two strings of traditional glass holiday lights and get one string of efficient LED holiday lights for free courtesy of Efficiency Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Power.
Green Schools Nova Scotia– A program that uses a whole-school approach engaging students, teachers, principals, custodial and administrative staff and parents in environmental learning, inspirational and stewardship activities. The Green Schools program provides resources, facilitation, planning, and inspiration for continued progress.
Efficiency Nova Scotia Demonstration Homes – By using smart design and construction, Efficiency Nova Scotia Demonstration Homes represents a realistic and affordable depiction of how to maximize the efficiency of any new construction home. Find out how one home has tied the Energuide rating record in the province with a rating of 94 while the other beat the record with an extraordinary rating of 96.
