How it works

5 steps to a more comfortable, energy efficient home

Discover how your home uses energy, and what you can do to improve it.

Step 1

Your Energy Advisor will book a 1 – 1.5 hour video call to discuss details of your home and any renovation plans

Step 2

Using your phone or computer’s camera, you walk them through your home so they can collect measurements and information about your heating and ventilation systems

Step 3

Receive your Energy Efficiency Action Roadmap which includes:

  • Custom recommendations on energy efficient upgrades
  • Estimated cost savings
  • Estimated rebates you could receive for completing upgrades within 12 months
Step 4

After completing upgrades, schedule a second video call to verify the upgrades

Step 5

Receive rebates within 30 days of your final video call

Available Rebates

For information on all the available product rebates, check out the Remote Home Energy Assessment Rebate Guide.

Available Financing

If you’re interested in financing your upgrades, we can reduce your interest payments in lieu of providing rebates. We work with financial lenders to offer financing on approved credit, for loans up to $25,000 and terms up to 5 years. Your monthly payments will start 30 days after the loan documentation is signed.

Contact us at 1-877-999-6035 or financing@efficiencyns.ca to find out more. Additional eligibility criteria may apply.

Completing Upgrades

If you plan on hiring contractors, it’s good practice to get at least 3 quotes. Check out the Efficiency Trade Network to help narrow your search, and find a great contractor in your area.

Make sure your project goes smoothly! Don’t forget to:

  • Obtain all applicable permits and follow local building code requirements
  • Take photos of upgrades during installation
  • Keep all invoices and receipts of upgrades performed
  • Ensure that your contractor covers any foam insulation products with a thermal barrier
  • Contact your home insurance provider to confirm that the upgrades are covered by your policy
