This introductory course presents a basic overview of how refrigerants are used in cooling applications including how governmental policies influence the impact of refrigerants on the environment. The course consists of two lessons: Lesson 1 covers a basic understanding of refrigerants, including the history of refrigerants, terminology, and refrigerants types such as CFC, HCFC, HFC, natural Refrigerants, and blends (zeotrope and azeotrope). Lesson 2 covers classification and regulations including, environmental considerations such as ozone depletion, climate change and Energy Efficiency; refrigerants designation, safety classifications and lubricant types.
