Eligibility Criteria

General eligibility: You own your home (demonstrated by proof of homeownership), it's your current primary residence and you don't plan to sell it soon.

Household income eligibility: (Calculated by subtracting line 435 from line 236 in your Tax Notice of Assessment)

1 person: $37,260 2 people: $77,050 3 people: $98,900 4 people: $120,750 5+ people: $126,500

Oil consumption eligibility: Your home must be primarily oil heated, consuming at least 500 litres in the previous 12 months (demonstrated by proof of oil purchases).

Equipment eligibility: Only the following cold climate air source heat pumps are eligible:

  • Centrally Ducted Air Source Heat Pumps

  • Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pumps

Advanced payment option: As an Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) eligible customer, you can work with one or more installers to secure advance payments for their work, up to $15,000, which will help reduce your upfront cost of purchasing and installing a new whole home heat pump system. Pre-approved customers will receive access to our portal to complete the Advanced Payment Application and details on necessary information from contractors.

Remote Home Energy Assessments: Customers who are approved for the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability have the option to complete a remote Home Energy Assessment. Using video technology, you can connect with a Registered Energy Advisor via a video-capable smartphone, tablet or computer and eliminate the need for an in-person visit.

Please note that only heat pumps are eligible for rebates with a Remote Home Energy Assessment.
