The Isaacs are loving the savings they’re seeing on their bills, and the comfort added to their home.

$1,150 in Rebates and $1,600 Savings per Year

The Isaac family lives in a 1980s home in suburban Bedford. Although the insulation was already quite efficient with an EnerGuide rating of 148 GJ, the house was due for some upgrades to the heating, hot water, and ventilation systems. Upon completion of their Home Energy Assessment, the Isaacs decided to go through with the recommended upgrades. They received a $450 heat pump rebate, $300 heat recovery ventilator rebate, and a $400 heat pump hot water heater rebate. The total project cost was $11,300 with a payback period of 6.3 years. After these upgrades, their home’s final EnerGuide rating was 92 GJ.

Insulation Upgrades Save $1,250 per Year

Sarah lives in an old farmhouse just outside of New Glasgow, and was on the fence about whether to update the insulation in her attic or basement. After her Home Energy Assessment, she decided to upgrade both, along with some air sealing, and couldn’t believe the difference it made in both her bills and the comfort of her home, especially in the winter. Sarah received over $1,200 in rebates, with the final project costing $6,300 and a payback period of 4.3 years. The upgrades improved her EnerGuide rating from 138 GJ to 86 GJ.
