Step 1: Find a contractor.

If you don’t know where to start, visit our Efficiency Trade Network.

Step 2:
Apply for rebates before purchasing your products.

With help from your contractor:

  • Request quote(s) for product(s) and labour
  • Provide specification sheet(s) for each of the products you are upgrading.

Email all of the above documentation to and wait for approval before installing your upgrades.

Step 3
: Get approved, install your upgrades

Once approved, we’ll send you notice to proceed with the work – you can now purchase and install your energy efficient upgrades.

Your approval will detail your eligible rebates, we’ll include a summary of how much you can expect to save, your payback period, and interest free financing information to help cover the cost of your upgrades.

Step 4
: Confirm your products are installed

Within 90 days of installing your approved upgrades:

  • Include receipts or invoices for products
  • Provide receipts or invoices for labour

Email all of the above to or fax to 902 470 3599. Please include your business name and contact details in your submission to allow us to verify your rebates.

Step 5
: Receive your rebates!

Efficiency Nova Scotia will reimburse you with your approved payment amount within 30 days of your application being verified. If you are financing your project, we will send you a financing agreement and a summary of your financing and rebate amounts. Upon receipt of your financing agreement, Nova Scotia Power will include your financing on your next billing cycle.

We’re here to help you every step of the way. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling us toll free at 1 877 999 6035.

Think win-win-win-win. An energy efficient business is:

  • Less expensive to operate
  • More comfortable to work in
  • More environmentally friendly
  • More competitive

Save money: Energy efficiency upgrades are a permanent gift: they just keep giving. And not only can you reduce your energy bill, we’ll help you do it. Depending on your project, you can qualify for up to 60% in rebates, and finance the rest on your power bill.

Invest in comfort: While you may already have a well-designed business space, improving your energy efficiency can make your space more inviting and comfortable to everyone who walks through your door – with better temperature control, air quality, and light.

Save our environment: Businesses use more than 50% of all the electricity we generate in the province. Because every kilowatt of electricity we use can be up to 75% fossil fuel-based, any reduction in your energy consumption is an upgrade to our environment. In Nova Scotia, a plan for a more energy efficient building is a plan for fewer greenhouse gas emissions in our air.

Get competitive: Managing your energy costs is good for business. The upfront investment will pay off in the long run – and help you maintain your competitive edge.
