5 things we’re most looking forward to at the Bright Business Conference
We’re putting the finishing touches on plans for this year’s Bright Business Awards and Conference , and can hardly contain our excitement.
For five years now, Bright Business has been a must-attend event for energy and environmental leaders across the province. It gives us the opportunity to meet, discuss and celebrate Nova Scotia’s achievements year-to-year in energy efficiency.
And, let’s face it – together, we’ve achieved a lot.
Here are the top five things we’re most looking forward to on October 19th.
Hearing from keynote speaker, Elizabeth McDonald
When it comes to shouting from the rooftops the successes of Nova Scotians who are leading the way in energy efficiency, we have no bigger supporter than Elizabeth.
With over 25 years experience, she’s worked with industry, advocacy groups and all levels of government spreading the word about the power of efficiency. She’s the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA) – in the ear of top officials making sure the needs of the energy efficiency industry are heard.
The current buzz around climate change in Canada and beyond puts Nova Scotia’s businesses at the center of a big opportunity to grow our economy. Elizabeth is at the center of these conversations.
Networking with energy efficiency leaders and professionals from across the province
There are over 1,200 skilled workers in Nova Scotia’s energy efficiency industry. We’re excited to meet some of them and hear their stories!
These professionals are energy experts, contractors, insulation installers, heating system installers, electricians and more. They work across Nova Scotia contributing to our green economy.
Throughout the day, networking breaks are scheduled for the opportunity to chat about their energy efficiency stories – what’s worked for them, the barriers they face and the opportunities ahead.
Listening to success stories from here and abroad
There is a great line-up of speakers for this year’s event – and every one of them can touch on how energy efficiency has helped their organizations.
Speakers like:
- Natalie Leonard, who helped Housing Nova Scotia implement passive house design for affordable housing projects.
- Heather Peng from Memorial University, who’ll speak on Green Ship technology and the benefits of energy efficiency in the marine sector.
- And an education panel, featuring representatives from some of Nova Scotia’s top post-secondary institutions, speaking on the future of energy efficiency and the industry.
Getting up close and personal with the latest technology developments in energy efficiency
These folks are helping make energy efficiency as hip as windmills, with emerging technology that is changing the way we use energy.
We’ll hear from Nyle Energy Division, Green Power Labs Inc. Grundfos and Munden Enterprises on their latest developments, and toast the industry with a sip of cool brew.
Celebrating this year’s Bright Business Award winners
We’ll be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate five years’ worth of Bright Business Award winners. We can’t wait to find out who takes home the prize this year.
Each year, the awards recognize Nova Scotia’s best-in-class energy efficient organizations, individuals and communities. Past winners include the Halifax Regional School Board, Oxford Frozen Foods, Lobsters R Us, just to name a few.
